Therapy.....

    Psychotherapy is a lot like reading a map. Occasionally we come upon a map in a mall or at the zoo of the immediate area designed to help us get where they want to go.  As we look at the a map trying to understand our situation we are oriented by the arrow next to the words “you are here.”  Once we know where we are and the lay of the land, the steps necessary to get where we want to go become obvious. Therapy is like the “you are here” map reading experience. If you listen carefully, many casual conversations are also like a “you are here” experience. This is one of the reasons why the social world is so important for our mental health. Therapy helps us find our way.
